Tatum O’Neal

Tatum O’Neal made history at merely age ten when she won the Academy Award for Paper Moon, a period piece set in the United States during the Great Depression. She co-starred alongside her famous father, Ryan O’Neal, and was the youngest person to win an Oscar for best supporting actress in 1974. Born in Los Angeles, California, O’Neal’s whirlwind life has mirrored the celebrity glamour and tumultuous events that encapsulate Hollywood.

At age six, O’Neal’s actress mother Joanna Moore lost custody of her and in spite of a dysfunctional childhood, she continued to thrive in the film industry. After Paper Moon, she starred in The Bad News Bears (1976), International Velvet (1978), and Little Darlings (1980). During her childhood, Tatum’s first love and first pubic boyfriend was the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Even though the relationship with Jackson did not last, she married tennis superstar John McEnroe and had three children with him.

After early success, Tatum’s acting career slowed down and her increasingly erratic personal life inspired her to become a spokeswoman for overcoming addiction. In her 2004 autobiography Paper Life, O’Neal exposes the dark side of Hollywood and recounts her drug problems. She also joins the many brave women in the film industry who have spoken out against sexual abuse. Additionally, O'Neal is actively working to remove the stigma against individuals suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. In response to news anchor Katie Couric’s disparaging comments questioning how O’Neal could remember being abused if she was on drugs, O’Neal stated “Katie, how do you forget?” In spite of hardship, Tatum O’Neal’s life story exemplifies the talent, perseverance, and faith that are necessary to succeed in Hollywood.

Capturing her beauty and elegance, Hayes Autographs is showcasing an 8x10 signed black and white photo of Tatum O’Neal for $40. This collector’s item is a perfect addition for a burgeoning or well-established Hollywood memorabilia set.
